So everyday starting tomorrow I will be posting a new list until I run out of steam. First wave of them will be ally free, but from there I think my findings will allow me to figure out what allies I want

More to come soon! Hint to a big thing I see, psychic powers! Also if you have any questions on how I feel 6th edition affects specific units or weapons comment or email. Ernie Carafahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05817148768419058258noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-364550777986116910.post-88316169568700480382012-07-02T21:40:00.001-04:002012-07-02T21:40:23.319-04:00Close Combat Gone?So I have been reading over the new rulebook, deciding how it affected the army I was about to purchase. So with the changes on vehicle hull points and snap-fire I am honestly afraid to run that army now. Yes I get the subtle boost from chain-words all around, but that is about it. So were do I go from here?

Allies...

This I know is a debated topic, but I see a conversion dream. Want rail-guns for your IG? Take Tau allies and convert some IG gundams. Eldar want to have some Dark Eldar in their army? Exoidite conversion? Create a new Aspect for what your taking? Go crazy.

So my idea to alter my list is to ally... Space Wolves

Dropping a Baal Predator and a Assault squad (Some other points here and there) will get me a Wolf Lord, a Grey Hunter squad in Razorback, and some Thunder Wolf cavalry. My idea is to sacrifice a little shooting and lessing one assault squad to be Grey Hunters (which are better then Tactical Marines for this situation. I gain another hammer melee unit, which is not on reliance of a transport.

Conversion ideas I don't know, something cool since I am going to still make them sisters of battle. I figured i'd put wolf pelts of the Grey Hunter counts as, but what cool thing could I make them ride. I was thinking giant lizards like cold ones, but there probably to small. Maybe giant steam punk steads? I don't know where i'd find those. For one that would be a painful conversion.

Ernie Carafahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05817148768419058258noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-364550777986116910.post-26983098522850675732012-06-22T11:26:00.001-04:002012-06-22T11:33:47.767-04:006th Edition timingSo when on the brink of investing in a new army list one thing not to do is buy it if the edition of the rules or codex are going to be updated soon. I had a 100+ gene stealer mass outflank list, that months later was made unplayable by the newest codex. Good thing someone bought that army from me, since they really like the paint job. With 6th edition around the corner I have to re think my list. Changes to jump-packs and vehicles make me want to reconsider my list. Descent of Angles and Sanguinary Guard Wing armies look to be a lot better which really entices me.

Also a side note, if anyone has spare Sanguinary Guard Wings I need a lot and am willing to buy or trade for them. Both armies require a lot of wings.

Next post will have some mock showings of bits and conversions I wish to do. You'll see why I need a lot of wingsErnie Carafahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05817148768419058258noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-364550777986116910.post-44855272463752764062012-06-11T04:49:00.000-04:002012-06-11T04:49:11.439-04:00Sisters of Slaughter (Working Title)

Well basically I am going to be bit smashing Sisters of Battle models with Blood Angel bits I have left over from my last army. Some of the new models for the Sisters of Battle made this a lot easier, though I have no idea what I what to use as the Librarian. Canoness looks to be the obvious model to build from, but I feel something better is out there.
The new immolator will be the razorbacks, after the adding of the assault cannons. Predators and Vindicator I will use there base model. Though I was thinking of using one of my old empire cannons and replacing it with the Vindicator one. You are so joyed and al you want to do it go to the game club and slap him down on the table for people to envy. But wait you need to base him still. So you have this awesome Blood Angel Captain in his bright red armour and you base him on a lava base and you realize he doesn't seem as red as before, instead he disappears into the base. Now your prized piece is not as awesome as it was before the base.

This is the L*A*B* color system. Colors opposite of each other will bring out the color of each other. So back to out friends awesome Blood Angel Captain, if he had put it on a base with maybe some grass like a rocky base as long as there was some green grass it would of made his Red Captain pop out more. Or even maybe some swampy green moss or sewer water anything with a green. Now another thing to remember is beware brown. Brown can suck the life out of all color if you use to much. But a good mix of that and green it good as the brown will drain the green, and the green will still empower the red.

The other side of this say you have a army with a camouflaged theme like Catachans. You may want to have a very earthy green and brown base to hide them in it. This can add to the overall feel and blend of the army making it ten times better looking.

Basing is a huge way to tie your army together. On top of that thew potential to making your army's color pop more is astounding. So when you decide what color scheme you want, you should then think of how your going to base them.
Ernie Carafahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05817148768419058258noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-364550777986116910.post-54846561413904974812010-04-29T17:30:00.000-04:002010-04-29T17:30:14.358-04:00Finals is a hellSo I have been pile down by finals, but tomorrow I have all day to work on my cathedral so expect pictures later tomorrow. This rhino was traded to me build and painted, so that made the process harder. But it was my first one so I didn't mind sacrificing it for the trial.

After I got that done I took the door piece and cut it down the center and curving down. I places a mock marine in there for now for spacing purposes. Next I will carve v like marks along the cut to making it look more like a chainsword cut through it. I will have more WIP pictures up in a couple days as next I work on the top hatch.

So any comments are welcome, bash me if you want. I talk to my local store worker Bishop and for him I will be paint a Dark Angel banner. Yes it's a little off topic of Blood Angels, but I have a personal opinion of Codex post in the works coming. So he chose for me to recreate the Sacred Standard of Devastation. I have to make 3 8x10 versions for my class, but then I will make a 18x24 for him. Then I will need to find a way to get the cloth for it and cut it. If I enjoy doing this I may see about doing some commission banner work in the future.
Thank you! They are awesome if you get first turn and can set up some side armour shots first turn. Flamestorm turret outflank? Yes please! I decided not to combat squad my tactical squad, so that not to have more kill points out. He then deployed and reserved his Terminators (Choosing not to deathwing assault them), and also he choose to outlfank his bikes. One was wrecked other immobilized and also fire from the tactical's lascannon, Vindicator and Razorback above stunned and immobilized then rhinos. Everything else missed or caused lesser damage.

Rest of the army again presses forward in order to take out the last Vindicator and trap the rhinos and their occupants. The shaken Baal Pred moved into position for next turn possibility to fire at rhino's or disembarked troops. Also my Flamestorm came in and outflanked my right side, since there were no troops I went for a rear flame shot at the rhino. Hey it's s6 and ignores the smoke why not? He destroyed my Flamestorm Pred with the Tactical squad, but not before he laid down the flame killing the bikes. I disembarked my top squad and kill his leftmost tactical squad. Sammael assaulted the retreating squad which held. Also I need to mess around with what powers to use on my Librarian, because I didn't see much effect this game. But I am going to try this same list again before I pass my judgment on it. Sanguinary Priest are a defiant need and work very well in the Razorbacks with an assault squad. I can't say much more then "I LOVE FAST TANKS!!!!!!" That being some Jawaballs resin bases and these things rock. I am planning on using the cobble stone bases, so that my army will blend in on the display board I am building with the cathedral. He some pictures of some before paint and after my first try at painting them. You guys need to go over to Jawaballs product line and see the amazing stuff he is coming out with before they all go! I will be modeling a death company chain sawing through the side door hatch to get out. Also there will be one trying to get out from the top hatch. I will have work in progress pictures up in a couple days.

Now I have to give one more shout out to Fritz. Yes I know if you are reading this you probably already know of him and Jawaballs. But I had the opportunity to talk to Fritz this past monday at Battle For Salvation, White plains New York. We had a nice chat about his new Tyranid army and blogging. I know these guys probably get a lot of hate from some people, but those people never talk to them in person. Fritz is as nice or even nicer to chat with face to face. I wish I could chat with him more at Battle for Salvation, but sadly college in philadelphia is calling me back. You guys need to go over to Fritz's site and take a look at his work. http://saimhann.blogspot.com/
More to come guys and those pictures will be coming asap!Ernie Carafahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05817148768419058258noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-364550777986116910.post-6868402153231412942010-03-14T01:44:00.000-05:002010-03-14T01:44:28.148-05:00Stormraven Gunship Build IdeasUnusually GW has decided not to create a model for the Stormraven Gunship, what could of been the Trygon for nids, the Stegadon for Lizardmen, and the Hydras for Dark Elves. But I have been plotting how to create some, since like everyone else I don't want to wait!

The Land Speeder Tempest from Forgeworld clocking in at $50 before shipping was my first eyesore. I think a little bit of extending to the back and with some plastic card could do the trick. At the end make a box compartment where the troops would go and leave space between that and the front halve for the dred. Put some industrial looking arms that would carry the dred and Bam! Weaponry will be my next issue to handle, but that will wait until I see its layout.

This is cheaper and comes with more bits and weapons to work with. When I get my hands one I will have a build video going.

Any Thoughts on conversion idea for this bad boy?
Ernie Carafahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05817148768419058258noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-364550777986116910.post-65484638162945193012010-03-09T19:39:00.000-05:002010-03-09T22:17:01.868-05:00Flip Flop Angel Style! So everyone has seen the new models to be released. And as always I have flip flopped like a flapjack on my army scheme. I am going to drop pre-heresy theme (though I am still converting Sanguinius) and picking up a Death Company Theme. The new kit comes with SO many bits I can mix with other kits so create a complete Death Company themed army. All the Sergeants will be Chaplains, or novice chaplains leading Death Company squads to gain their ranks. My Rhinos will have Death Company tearing through them to get out. The only thing that is stumping me is what to do with the Sanguinary Guard. I don't think I can make them under the Black Rage, so I may keep them as is and say they are just fighting along side the Death Company force. I think the gold will do good amongst all the black. The coolest part of this is that tho I have to wait for new models and cash to get them I have a project to kind me working on the army progression. For a class I have to draw a design inspired by Gothic Cathedrals and right a paper on it. But thats only what is required, so I am going to build it for my display board. I will have it stylized to the Death Company with Stained Glass and Statues of Angelic figures. Any thoughts on the Sanguinary Guard issue or ideas on scheme leave a comment below.

Hey guys, so I got a request from a player on Raiza on Vassal for Corbulo and Dante combo tactics. So here we go!

I. Sphere of Blood-

Dante and Corbulo both have a 12” aura that boosts your troops CC ability tremendously. Combined it can be devastating, but how do you do that? Dante is a jumptrooper and can’t go in a rhino like Corbulo to stay safe. They key is placement. In objective based mission try to pool the loot counters as close as possible., and if not all the majority. You have to place your troops in a sphere, which revolves around Dante and Corbulo. In the picture below you can see a segment of a report I have recreated. This is my Mech/ Jumpforce list and you can see I have set up behind a rhino wall and terrain. Now he can stay away and shoot at me, but then that gives me time to get the dreadnaughts to come in and drop behind him. Being a force with a lot of blood claws he comes in. Dante and Corbulo are close to each other emitting that sphere. The game was annihilation, so he opted to come into the sphere. After on my turn my whole army disembarks and assaults. Even with counter charge both units and one speeder go done. I lose 4 marines spread amongst my units, but gain 3 Kill points. After this all you need to do is load your troops back up and move the sphere closer and closer until your dreadnaughts come in the rear. For Corbulo and Dante to be at their most potent this sphere must me created. For loot counters the closer they are to each other the more you can fit in you sphere. So when you use Dante and Corbulo remember these rules.

So I am going to use the symbols of 1st company. I still plan on making Sanguinius which my pieces should be in the mail soon. I painted up my first marine and will have pictures soon. Tho I haven't figured out a plan to get my symbols on neat, clean, and spot on similar. I'm plotting a trick and hopefully it will pay out.Ernie Carafahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05817148768419058258noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-364550777986116910.post-91427090511166550662010-01-30T21:04:00.000-05:002010-01-30T21:04:08.807-05:00Color SchemeI am going to paint them a pre heresy scheme and convert myself a Sanguinius. I am going to use a Emperors Champion model and Wings from a Reaper model, Some green stuff and maybe that chaos herald guy from fantasy's head.
I am thinking 3 Furioso Death Company Venerable Dreds is the way to go always. Drop podding those bad boys in has not once disappointed me. When you get 7 attacks on the charge it screams death to all. I am kinda not getting to fond of 3 Baal preds as really as much as I love Assault Cannons they don't cut it most of the time. I may drop one and get an Assault squad and see how that goes for me.

But of course I then hear news of new Blood Angels which just puts a complete halt to my play testing. So thing are going to start off even slower then I wanted. So until the new codex comes I will have time to finish my Nids and the Re painting of my Necrons. Then when the codex drops I will pull out the marines from 3 AoBr's and start going at it!

Ernie Carafahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05817148768419058258noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-364550777986116910.post-52884999441501249602010-01-11T04:34:00.001-05:002010-01-11T04:38:31.934-05:00Work in ProgressAnyone who stumbles along this blog it's going to be a work in progress and I have decided to start a Blood Angels Army. I will record my progress along the building of them and when I get them in battle conditions maybe a couple of battle reports. Comments will be appreciated on my progress.Ernie Carafahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05817148768419058258noreply@blogger.com0
